FPS with old one

Call of Duty
I still remember, when I was playing the best first-person-shooters at the time. Though I'm not sure what was the first fps game I started playing with, but unfortunately Quake, Doom and Wolfenstein 3D (etc) weren't on the list. Actually I have never played them - sadly - and maybe never will. A lot gamers tell you, Quake and Doom were the best shooters there was (at the time, and still maybe). I might never play them, mainly because I have no inspiration to play them and I would suck a lot playing those.

But anyways. Call of Duty was one of the games, and maybe the only game I played on every difficulty level. Hardest wasn't even hard, more like annoying in some parts. Second in series I played almost on every level, except one. Was so bored to play it again. Now that I think of it, this might be the reason I don't play newer CoD games on every difficulty, it just gets so boring getting through the levels - or specially with the annoying levels or part of levels.

Enemy Territory - Battery map with Allied beach invasion
And if you remember my previous post, most impact for me in fps genre, has been made with Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (in short: ET or W:ET). The days when I played it days and nights, so much fun. I still play it too, exept not all the time. Biggest reason I quitted for few years was newer games and the servers on W:ET, that uses so many mods which pisses me of. I'm quite fond of Jaymod (little bit for No Quarter), but that's it.

Orders won't get far enough

My pre-order is still in post office, or in a way to my city. Don't know exactly, but I'm eagerly waiting that Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Augmented Edition. Official launch in Europe was last week, just before weekend, and I missed it. Well, I kinda knew it wouldn't get in here in time.

In a mean while I fragged some ass in Enemy Territory and watched some movies to my boredom. Before I got myself to get ready for work this week, I suddenly remembered buying Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas Collection pack with Vegas and Vegas 2 few months ago. And as I liked Lockdown in some way (with bots being them old ass****s), I thought this couldn't be as bad as that. Well, disc went to drive and began installation. Didn't take as much time as Lockdown did, but hey, it had 4CDs (I had the old case).

After installation and starting up the game, I had to choose my character type (male or female). At first I almost chose female one, but then again, it was nice change to take male part this time (I like choosing female characters for them to be more eye candy). Before I got to finish the character, there was camera option for face to the game scan your face and put it on your characters face. Got curious and tried my new Logitech cam. Took couple shots with each got it's own mechanics to crop the image from certain poins. The finished job was quite amusing, but in the end pretty happy for certain detail (the beard was so intense, but eyes were little too high).

When I almost got to play single-player campaign, I realized you can co-op this game as well. I searched ongoing games, but never got into one, so hosted myself. Couple guys joined my team, with first one leaving me alone with bots because we failed the first "chapters" end sooo hard (defusing bomb and then more than few terrorist came from different angles and we didn't get much cover).

Fun game, ended little too soon (played pretty late at night), but got to blame myself for remembering too late for having game in the bookshelf. Almost even thought for bots being little easier to command, but last chapter ended having hostage killed with my bots being at some random place. From minimap I didn't even see them, but only the arrows showing which way they were "left behind". That point almost facepalmed myself.

This week might start with brand new game, if I'm lucky enough. If not, I'll continue playing Vegas 2 again and this time I know better with terrorist >:)

Randomism - Miners ahoy!

I like minecraft. But I don't love it. Not too much anyway.

Minecraft start menu. Image from wikipedia.org.
I played minecraft for good time when I bought it, but nowadays maybe once or twice in a week or 2 weeks. I would like to play more, but seems like I don't have any ideas, what to build. And I don't wanna build something that others have - nor do I want to copy the art and make my own version of everything else.

And because I have possibility and will to do, I have been keeping my own private minecraft server - plus, I really have to advertise my server to everybody.

IP: coming soon...

From the Hat

During last weekend, having a nice rest after "long" week from work (mentally abusing mostly), was almost worth it. Even if almost got headache and whole weekend went watching One Piece (don't even ask why), it was relaxing.

In the middle of watching anime and keeping my TV on for nothing (I like keeping my TV on, even when there is nothing on to watch), was about to take quick nap till I saw couple familiar Finnish comedians (Ketonen & Myllyrinne). Even some comedians on stage didn't quite get my attension, but as I noticed the way they were sitting in a row (4 performers) and then the host at the side was giving some sort of games to the performers to do.

At that moment I realized, they were doing same kind of improvisations as in US TV show Whose Line is it Anyway? I watched the show little bit more for my curiosity. Then about half a way of the show, I knew they were doing the same games (and I was about to yell in my mind "ripoff!", but hey...what else would they do than nothing? :P) with less success than original show, to my opinion. After many ads, their title burst out, "Vedetään hatusta" (Roughly translated: From the hat). When the show ended, I threw myself to the vast world of internet, and found them to be finnish version of WLIIA

Originally Whose Line was British BBC Radio 4 show programme which moved to UK's TV show on Channel 4 in 1988. Years later same version of the show was aired in the America in 1998 till '05- '07. Both UK and US versions were quite popular.
I liked the US version more myself, because I haven't seen the UK version almost at all; I have seen half of one episode, but didn't like it as much.

On US version, two regular comedians, Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie are just the most awesome couple ever. They like making jokes of themselves all the time, like the other comedians visiting them do with them occasionally. Other comedians, regulars and visitors like Wayne Brady, Brad Sherwood, Greg Proops and few others are very good performers, even if their jokes are kinda lame sometimes. Although one improv-game isn't as thoroughly thought as can be: Props. Or the perfomers don't think as good jokes with the props, as with time, but who knows.
I really can't say my full opinion about the games they have on the show, because I just haven't seen them all nor the episodes.

I have had many laughs on evenings with Whose Line, and can't wait to have their DVD release ^^

With laser pistols and P90s

Vacation is long over and I'm tired as hell from trying to get sleep pattern to normal (with failure). And now I'll have to work longer days for this week for our janitor having fun on his vacation...lucky him. And with injured leg, my job gets little bit interesting too. Luckily I'll get more day offs after few weeks...

Putting my injuries and job aside, lets get with the headline, shall we.
My vacation went pretty well; got hold of one old scifi TV series, one of my favourites from 90's.
This series is one and only: Babylon 5. I still remember watching this on our local channel late night with my big brother and after school, we watched it again. Though it was kind of sad, I was too young to understand all the commotion the series had in it, so I missed about half of the plot. Still enjoyed to my hearts full.
But now as I started watching it again, I understand much better, whats going on. And to my opinion, it is quite nice and complex plot too. Or maybe I just enjoy it so much so I don't know any better, who knows...

Another TV series as my favourite, is Stargate SG-1. Series was based on the movie, which came on '94 as B5. I think when I saw the movie on the tv, was almost instantly hooked to it. And after local tv channels stated to show it in Finland, I was so excited. Didn't see whole series back then, due to my age and part of the channels fault: they never showed the series after one particular season (which I don't remember unfortunately) even if they had the chance.
But luckily couple years ago I started to get hold on the first few seasons on DVD. Even if I was low on money, still had to buy them. And so I did. Now after a year, I have the whole series in my hand with the original movie and Continuum.

With these series, I'm having a blast time. Next TV series I might get is Firefly. I only saw couple episodes of the serie, but Nathan Fillion still managed to get my attention on it, not as best actor, but some of his lines made me smirk a lot. I believe he was made for the part in the serie. But unfortunately, they only made one season of the show. Same problem with Earth 2, which I liked too.

It's kinda funny, but more like extremely sad that scifi shows don't last too long, if the viewer count is too low.
Same thing happened to Stargate Universe; after two seasons, Syfy saw to cancel it for low viewer count towards to end.

Randomism - Very fast reminder

I suddenly got worried about this blog page yesterday late night. Started to wonder, did I wrote too much text, and not enough pictures to show, I'm much more than I seem to be. But we have to remember here, that I'm just starting this damn business in the first place.

There may be some changes in the layout, or in the header. You never know until you hear it from me or see it yourself. Header was changed for the lack of info, what this is all about. As I like to place random crap text all over, I realized how stupid it would sound, if I would start to write more sensible stories. But we all can learn from our mistakes...hopefully.

Text looking for place

I hate making new blog entries so much. I'm not going to even try this time, so here is my random ramble, for now

Yes, I have tried blogging before, with my own sites (Wordpress) and then the Operas own blogger and Xfire blog soft. Those all have their own good and bad things, like Operas nice and clear outfit customization, but they lack of sharing options...well, they don't exaclty have any, which bothers me a lot. And if you don't know about Xfire, it's game community with abilities of joining your friends games via their software and game store, kinda like Valves Steam and EAs Origin.
Xfire has same problems as Opera (no sharing options), but it is kinda replaced with ability of getting knowledge withing your friends in the community, if they want to read your posts - if you have friends on the community at the time you write anything.
But for some reason, I always forgot to blog for few weeks, and then it's forgotten. I don't believe reason to be not enough audience nor lack of information to give. More like tired of thinking, what to write.

I didn't want to write anything in the blogger in the first place though, the time when it was blogspot. There was always something that made me think that it was crappy websoft. But as i'm getting myself warm to idea of blogging as weird s**t as I make up, I'm considering testing all popular and most usefull softs there are.
One reason I chose blogger to use, it was from Google. Now don't get me wrong. I don't "love" google by any means, or do I suggest Google apps or software (Android, Gmail etc.) to anyone. But more like I don't like using other blog softwares by, lets say, from Microsoft, if they made any these. But Google is more familiar for me.

Meh, I find myself rambling again.

Spent last 2 weeks vacation, doing almost nothing but sleeping and playing...and don't even ask what games.
Well, spent second weekend on Porispere, Poris Metal festival. It was quite nice for my first festival, which could have been Tuska Open Air, but got no ride from friends and didn't have much money to spent on transportation, less to some hotel/hostel. But Porispere was still quite nice. Got myself to first line to the stage couple times even. And the pain in the neck after that festival, urgh! Still worth it though! And met the vocalist of finnish band Battle Beast.

Alrighty, I'm getting tired, so I'll get this post over quickly. Next time I'm going to ramble over for some games, new or old, depends if I get one of my pre-orders soon *waits release of Skyrim*!

PS. If you noticed that I jump from one thing to another and then back, it's kind of way I write sometimes :P
